My daily routine

By Jay, 10 months old

For a long time I didn’t have much of a routine during my day and night. I would keep getting hungry and waking up and Mum would feed me and then I would be tired during the day. But now that I sleep all through the night, here is what I do every day.

7am: Wake up and call out to Mum and Dad. Dad comes in and picks me up. He takes me to Mum who feeds me milk.

7.30am: Dad changes my nappy. Then I go in and play in the lounge.

8am: Breakfast. Two vita-brit wheat flake biscuits mixed with water. Sometimes Dad has the same breakfast as me! Sometimes I have some fruit as well, like some pieces of pear.

10am: Help Mum in the kitchen. I don’t know what she does, but I do try to help.I might have some more fruit too.

During the day I do lots of fun things with Mum. Sometimes we go for walks to the park, or to the shops. Sometimes we go to Baby Yoga or another exercise class. Sometime I go and visit my Nana, who plays with me and feeds me milk out of a bottle.

1pm: I usually have lunch in the middle of the day. It’s different every day, but always yummy.

5pm: Mum feeds me some more milk.

6pm: Dad gets home. In the kitchen, he feeds me my dinner. I have something like minced lamb with sweet potato. Sometimes Mum and Dad make a special meal and we all eat the same thing. Mum and Dad must feel very special that they get to eat the same food as me. After dinner, I play with Dad for a while.

6.30pm: Dad takes me into the bathroom where we fill up the bath. I love the water splashing into the bath. Then he puts me in the bath and splashes water on me. In return, I splash water on him by kicking the water with my legs. Dad is not very good at splashing — I always splash much more water on him than he does on me.

6.45pm: After Dad has changed his shirt, we go into the lounge where he reads me one and a half stories. My favourite is “Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy”, which has a very scary cat. Dad’s favourite is “One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish” which sounds funny but doesn’t have any cats. I start to get tired and a bit hungry before the end of the second story.

7.00pm: Mum comes in and feeds me some more yummy milk, which makes me sleepy.

7.30pm: Dad takes me in to bed. I am usually very tired. I think he tucks me in and says goodnight. I go to sleep and dream about milk.
