Eating breakfast by myself

By Jay, 17 months old

I have cereal for breakfast most mornings. It’s a really yummy muesli that Mum makes. Usually Dad helps me eat it by putting it on the spoon for me. But now I can work the spoon by myself. It’s much better because I don’t have to keep asking Dad for another spoonful. I just put the spoon into the bowl, and it comes out with food on it and then I put it in my mouth. It’s very exciting.

Sometimes it’s so exciting that I start to laugh and wave my hands around. Then I put the spoon in my mouth but there’s no food on it! I have to do it all again. It’s annoying when this happens. Even Mum and Dad look annoyed.

Shoes

By Jay, 17 months old

Some of Jay's shoesI have got a lot of shoes now. I still have my special first pair of proper shoes but they are getting small. I have some other nice shoes as well. I really like my shoes. When we go out, Mum and Dad ask me to get my shoes and I run as fast as I can to get them. Or if I want to go outside, I go and get my shoes and bring them to Mum so she can help me put them on. Now that the weather is warm I sometimes wear sandals instead of shoes. The sandals are good because I can almost put them on by myself.

Every time I pick up my shoes I always say the word. “Shooes!” It’s such a fun word to say. “Shooooes!”
