I have a new baby brother! His name is Felix. He was living inside Mum’s tummy for a while but now he is out and he is very cute. I like little babies and now I have one of my very own.
One day last week Mum started feeling funny. I tried to help her by giving her hugs but she still didn’t feel well. My uncles came to get me and then I stayed at my friend Flint’s house for the night. Then today my uncles picked me up and took me to a place called Birthcare to see Mum and Dad. Felix was there too and Mum showed me that he used to be in her tummy but now he was out. I gave him a little hug because Dad told me to be gentle.
Mum said that Felix was born at night on Thursday 8 March 2007. He was 4 kilograms and 52 cm long when he was born. That’s much bigger than I was! Felix is my little brother but maybe he won’t be little for very long.

[...] In my defence, the website stated that the closing date was 9 March. I interpreted this to mean that I could make a submission on this date. But what they actually meant was that submissions would be closed from that date, meaning that the actual last date for submission was the 8th. Now I would have made it on the 8th, but as it happened my wife went into labour on that date. Our son was born that night, and I found myself back at home briefly in the early hours of Friday morning. Instead of sleeping, I quickly finished my submission and attempted to submit it, only to be told that submissions were closed. This was at 5am on 9 March. This was pretty annoying, but I did have a wonderful new baby so I think I came out ahead. [...]
