When I was born I had a tongue tie. My tongue was stuck to the bottom of my mouth. Mum says that it is common for a newborn baby like me to have a tongue tie but it usually goes away after a while. Mum didn’t even know about mine until a nurse noticed it when I was about 6 weeks old.
My tongue tie was making it hard for me to eat. When Mum was feeding me it was hard to get my head in the right place so I could swallow the milk. Also, the tongue tie could make it hard for me to learn to talk. So when Mum found out about the tongue tie she took me to a doctor to fix it.
It was easy to fix the tongue tie. The doctor just cut the piece of skin that attached my tongue to my mouth. It was very quick and it only hurt a little bit. Mum was there so I didn’t cry very much. And since then it has been easier to eat!
