My brother’s flower

By Felix, 5 months old

This morning Jay showed me a flower and said

Look Felix! Jay got daffondil.

It was a nice yellow flower. Mum gave him the flower yesterday and he was playing with it and this morning he told me about it. I like it when he talks to me. It makes me smile. I don’t know about the flower though because Mum and Dad call it a daffodil instead of a daffondil. I wonder what it’s really called?

Not so big any more

By Jay, 2 years old

Two weeks ago a nice man in a shop gave me a green balloon. I have had a lot of fun playing with the balloon since then but it has been getting smaller every day. Today I showed it to Dad and told him.

Little green balloon. Not so big any more.

Eating food

By Felix, 5 months old

Today I ate some food for the first time. Mum and Dad and Jay eat food every day but I always drink milk straight from Mum. But tonight Mum put some food in a bowl and I ate it from a spoon. It tasted nice like Mum’s milk but it was thick and funny to swallow. I was hungry so I ate it but it wasn’t as good as milk. The best thing about it was the spoon which was nice and chewy.

Kiss it better?

By Jay, 2 years old

I had a sore bottom because my nappy was wet so I asked Dad to help.

Jay got sore bottom. Daddy kiss it better!

Dad was very kind to me and hugged me and changed my nappy. But he didn’t kiss it better. Sometimes if I hurt my hand I kiss it better myself. But I can’t reach my bottom. Lucky for me that it got better anyway.

Jay coming too

By Jay, 2 years old

Today Pixi and Popcorn (that’s Dad’s own Mum and Dad) came to visit me and Felix. They played with us and we had fun. Then when it was time for dinner they went out to the front door and started saying goodbye. I wanted to keep playing so I went out with them and said

Jay coming too.

I got my shoes and sat down.

A bunny rabbit next door?

By Jay, 2 years old

A bunny?Dad and I were getting into the car when I saw two ears over the fence at the neighbours’ house. I told Dad to look at the bunny rabbit. Dad must have really liked the bunny because he went inside to get his camera and took a photograph of it.  I can’t wait to see the whole bunny rabbit because it must be really really big!

Round and round the garden

By Felix, 5 months old

My brother Jay likes playing fun games. One of his favourite games is called “Round and round the garden”. Usually he plays that game with Mum but today he played it with me.

When Mum plays the game with Jay she takes his hand and makes her finger go round on it and says

Round and round the garden
Like a teddy bear
One step…
Two steps…
Tickle under there!

When she says the last part she tickles Jay under the arm and he laughs and giggles. It always looks like so much fun!

How tall will I be?

By Jay, 2 years old

I am 90 centimetres tall now and I weigh about 14.5 kilograms. Dad says that some people think that a two-year-old boy will become twice as tall when he grows up. This means that I will be 180 centimetres tall when I am an adult.

I hope this is not true because then I will still be shorter than Dad!

Now I am 2

By Jay, 2 years old today

Jay's 2nd birthday cakeI am twice as old as I used to be. I have been 1 for almost as long as I can remember but now I am 2. It was really great turning 2 because birthdays mean cake and because I was 2 I had 2 cakes. I had one cake on Thursday morning at Playcentre which was blue with yummy gummy sharks and jelly fish on it. And another chocolate cake at my birthday party on Sunday shaped like the number two covered in “farties” (I mean smarties) and mini marshmallows. Of course I also get to blow out candles and everyone sings the special song for me.

I wish I had a birthday every week.
