Sitting down

By Felix, 9 months old

I have had a hard week because I learned to stand up but I kept falling over when I get tired. But now I can sit down nicely and it doesn’t hurt. When I get tired of standing up I can just collapse and go plop back down on my bottom. Then I can have a rest and crawl over to the sofa and stand up again. And then go plop again and then rest and then stand up again and keep going like this until lunchtime.  And if I bounce enough while I am standing up I get tired enough to have a nice afternoon nap which makes Mum very happy.

Tooth number two

By Felix, 9 months old

I have got another tooth to go with my first tooth! It is right beside the first one in the bottom front right of my mouth. I am glad that it came because now my mouth looks more even and I can smile and look cute instead of looking funny. Actually the teeth are pretty small so nobody sees them unless they tickle me and I laugh and open my mouth. Dad does this a lot. And I am going to visit my Nana soon and I bet she will tickle me even more. I hope she likes my teeth.

Felix has a tooth too

By Felix, 9 months old

I have a tooth now, just like Jay and Mum and Dad. It’s in the bottom of my mouth at the front on the left. It feels funny and I like to stick my tongue out so I can feel the tooth. I also like to bite hard on a toy and then pull it out of my mouth: ping!

I think another tooth is coming very very soon.

Standing up

By Felix, 9 months old

Three days ago I found out that I can stand up if I pull myself up on Mum’s leg. It’s fun because I pull up and look up at Mum and she looks down and smiles at me.

Yesterday I started pulling myself up on the sofa. The sofa is better than Mum for this because it doesn’t move around so much. I can stand up for a little while against the sofa before I get tired. Then I fall over and start crying. So really Mum is better than the sofa because when I get too tired to stand she picks me up and give me a nice hug.

Chasies

By Felix, 8 months old

Now that I can crawl I can play a really fun game with Jay. It’s called Chasies and it works like this. I am on the floor and Jay comes into the room. I see Jay and straight away I start crawling away from him as fast as I can. (This is not very fast yet.) As I am crawling I stop and look back over my shoulder to see if he is chasing me, then I start crawling away again.

Jay runs after me laughing. I keep trying to get away but he catches up and touches me and we both laugh. Then Jay runs away and then he stops and turns around. Then we start all over again!

It’s not you — it’s me

By Jay, 28 months old

Dad calls me “you” when he talks to me. He says things like “how are you today?” So I call myself “you” when I talk as well. “Felix is smiling at you” I say. But Dad tells me that I really mean “Felix is smiling at me“. So I say “Felix is smiling at me.” And then Dad says, “That’s right — Felix is smiling at you.”

I think Dad gets confused sometimes.
