Tooth three for me

By Felix, 10 months old

Felix’s third toothTooth number three came today. It has been hurting for a while but now Mum and Dad can see it. It is at the top right under my nose. It feels really big in my mouth. And I think there are two more teeth on either side of it that will come out soon.

I made up a song

By Jay, 29 months old

This morning I was playing in my room with Dad and I made up a song. It goes like this.

Birds in the water
Go sing and fly
All of the water
Comes out

I made up a tune as well. I also started to made up some more words about pulling out the plug to make the water come out and all of the birds falling down out of the sky. I was singing this song a lot to Dad and I think he liked it. So I taught him to sing it too. He’s a good singer just like me.

Bending the rules

By Jay, 29 months old

There are lots of things that I am not allowed to do. But whenever Mum and Dad tell me that I shouldn’t do something, I can usually find a way to do it anyway.

I’m not allowed to stand on the sofa. A few days ago Dad told me again: “No standing on the sofa please.” I said “Want to jump on the sofa!” Dad thought for a while and said “No standing or jumping on the sofa or any other chair or table.”

It’s lucky that we have a very low sofa in the lounge room. I ran straight to the sofa and put one foot on the sofa and one foot on the floor. Then I hopped my foot up and down on the floor. So I was only half standing and half jumping on the sofa. Dad didn’t say not to do that.

Pinkies and punkies

By Jay, 29 months old

Today I was out playing under a tree and there were lots of funny-looking things on the ground that had fallen off the tree. They were like dry leaves except they were shaped like long thin sausages. I like sausages. So I asked Dad what they were but he didn’t know. So I told him.

These are pinkies and punkies.

Dad smiled because he likes to know what things are called. I gathered up some pinkies and punkies and gave them to him.

Have a little talk

By Jay, 28 months old

Sometimes it’s nice to have a little talk. Mum and Dad do it all the time and so I like to do it too. Last night Dad said it was time to go to bed. But I didn’t want to, so I told him.

Not bedtime. Just sit down and have a little talk with Dad.

Then I sat in a chair and looked at Dad and smiled and said:

Hello, Daddy!
