A trip to the movies

By Jay, 2½ years old

Horton the ElephantToday I went to see a film in a great big large cinema. Mum and Dad took me out while Felix stayed at home with Nana. We went to see Horton Hears a Who! which is one of my favourite bedtime stories. It was really exciting and fun and loud and there was a scary bird and a little bunny. And we had ice cream afterwards too!

Mum and Dad asked me a few times last week if I wanted to go to see the movie. I wasn’t sure. A few times I told them that I didn’t want to see it yet and that I would go when I was a bit bigger. But they said they would take me and if I didn’t like it then we could go home. So we went off to the cinema, which was big and dark and full of nice comfy seats. I sat between Mum and Dad and we waited.

The film was really loud when it started and I had to put my hands over my ears. But then Horton came on and I watched the film. It lasted a long long time but I thought it was really fun and interesting all the way until the end. So did Mum and Dad because they were laughing a lot too. There was a bunny rabbit with cookies at the end and it made me hungry. When the film was over we went outside and I said “Daddy let’s go for ice cream!”

So films are just like haircuts because you get ice cream afterwards. But I think I would rather go to a film.
