I interpreted this to mean that I could make a submission on this date. But what they actually meant was that submissions would be closed from that date, meaning that the actual last date for submission was the 8th. Now I would have made it on the 8th, but as it happened my wife went into labour on that date. Our son was born that night, and I found myself back at home briefly in the early hours of Friday morning. Instead of sleeping, I quickly finished my submission and attempted to submit it, only to be told that submissions were closed. This was at 5am on 9 March. This was pretty annoying, but I did have a wonderful new baby so I think I came out ahead. [...] [...] In my defence, the website stated that the closing date was 9 March. Now I like to point to their “nose” and “eye” and “chin” as well. They smile when I do this except when I poke their eye too hard. I also touch my “knee” and Dad’s knee but he doesn’t like it when I pull the hair on his knee. After dinner I always brush my “teeth”. I still have my special first pair of proper shoes but they are getting small. I have some other nice shoes as well. I really like my shoes. When we go out, Mum and Dad ask me to get my shoes and I run as fast as I can to get them. Or if I want to go outside, I go and get my shoes and bring them to Mum so she can help me put them on. Now that the weather is warm I sometimes wear sandals instead of shoes. The sandals are good because I can almost put them on by myself. [...] [...] I have got a lot of shoes now. And when he picks me up and spins us around I laugh and squeal. First we spin in one direction. Then Dad spins us in the other direction. After all the spinning Dad puts me down. He shakes his head and walks funny for a minute afterwards. It looks funny! So even after the spinning is over it’s still lots of fun to watch Dad.
