Mum pointed out the moon in the sky tonight. I looked at it because I like the moon and I showed it to Felix. He likes the moon too. Then I had some ideas about the moon which I told to Mum and Dad and Felix:

If you could hold on to a kite you could go high up in the sky, very very high, and then pick up the moon and put it into a bag. Then a bird could go fly, fly, fly up high and if it had hands it could take the moon or if it couldn’t reach the moon it could go to a moon shop where there would be lots of cheaper moons.

Mum and Dad listened very carefully to my story. I think they liked it. Felix didn’t listen though, he just pointed at the moon and said “moon! moon!” But that’s OK because he’s only little.

We have a tram in our front room. Every day I go for rides on the tram. Sometimes I take Felix or Mum for a ride. We usually go to Motat, which is a fun museum near our house. Our tram is a sofa tram, but Motat has a real tram which is pretty fun except that I am not allowed to drive it.

When I want to ride the tram I go and get Mum or Felix, or Dad if he is home, or our friends Janet and Justin who are staying with us on holiday now. I tell them “There is plenty of room!” and show them where to sit on the sofa. Then I sit up high on the back of the sofa and off we go. Sometimes I bring some food and drinks on the tram so we don’t get hungry.

My cousin Chloe lives in Melbourne in Australia. Mum told me that Melbourne has lots and lots of trams and you can go anywhere on a tram in Melbourne. So the other day I took Mum to Melbourne on the sofa tram. It takes a long time to get to Melbourne but we had snacks with us. And then we came back home and got back in time for afternoon tea!

Today I went to see a film in a great big large cinema. Mum and Dad took me out while Felix stayed at home with Nana. We went to see Horton Hears a Who! which is one of my favourite bedtime stories. It was really exciting and fun and loud and there was a scary bird and a little bunny. And we had ice cream afterwards too!

Mum and Dad asked me a few times last week if I wanted to go to see the movie. I wasn’t sure. A few times I told them that I didn’t want to see it yet and that I would go when I was a bit bigger. But they said they would take me and if I didn’t like it then we could go home. So we went off to the cinema, which was big and dark and full of nice comfy seats. I sat between Mum and Dad and we waited.

The film was really loud when it started and I had to put my hands over my ears. But then Horton came on and I watched the film. It lasted a long long time but I thought it was really fun and interesting all the way until the end. So did Mum and Dad because they were laughing a lot too. There was a bunny rabbit with cookies at the end and it made me hungry. When the film was over we went outside and I said “Daddy let’s go for ice cream!”

So films are just like haircuts because you get ice cream afterwards. But I think I would rather go to a film.

I love it when Jay carries me around! I only just learned how to walk but now I have found an even better way of getting around. Jay has always liked giving me hugs. Sometimes he gives me such a big hug that we fall over and he ends up sitting on my head. I don’t like that so much. But sometimes now Jay hugs me and picks me up and carries me around. I like it when he comes up behind me and picks me up because then I can see where we are going. Jay picks me up and carries me in to see Mum and Dad and I give them a big smile and they give us a big smile and then Jay puts me down very gently. Or sometimes he just puts me down. Anyway it is a bit slower that walking but it is much more exciting.

I know lots of words so sometimes I like to make up new words to make it more interesting. One of my favourite words is puk. I use it all the time like when Mum asks if I would like a banana and I say “No banana thanks, just puk”. Or “it’s not bath time, it’s puk.” Last night I stayed up very late and Dad said “Oh my goodness, it’s so late! It’s twenty past eight!” But I told him not to worry: “No Dad, it’s only twenty past puk.”

The other day dad tried to talk to me about ice hockey. But I didn’t know what he was talking about. That happens a lot. Maybe it’s just puk.

Tonight Jay was in the bath and I wanted to get in too so I started trying to climb into the bath. Dad saw me and said “No Felix; you have to take off your pants first.” I looked at him and then I reached down and grabbed my pants and tried to pull them down. (And then I fell over.)

Dad looked surprised that I understood what he said. He gave me a hug and said that I was clever as he helped me get undressed for the bath. As he was talking I pointed and said “Ba! Ba!” so he picked me up and put me in the bath with Jay. I’m glad that Dad understands the things I say too.

These are a few of my favourite words:

Milk. Dad. Mum. Jay. Door. Toast. Book. Bubble. Shoe. No. Hot. Bye bye.

I know these words and can mostly say them properly and I like to point to the thing when I say the word. Especially Mum and Dad because they point back at me. When Mum is cooking at the stove I know that it is hot. I say “hot” and move my hand in front of my mouth because that is sign language for “hot”. And in the morning when Dad goes to the front door I wave my hand and say “bye bye” because he is going to work. Then everybody else waves and says bye bye too because they like to copy me.

There are some other words that I sort of know but I can’t always remember them and can’t say them properly:

Flower. Hand. Nose. Bird.

And there are also some other words that I don’t know yet. But I will learn them all soon.

I have started taking steps by myself. I always like to walk around the living room while holding on to the sofa or the table. But yesterday I tried taking a step without holding on to anything. It worked well though I only took one step at a time and then I had to grab something like the table or Mum or the wall so I didn’t fall over. Mum saw me and thought I was very clever though.

Then today in the morning I was playing in the kitchen after breakfast and I walked a few steps around the kitchen island. Mum and Dad both saw me and they both smiled at me and said nice things. I don’t think Jay saw me which is a shame because the reason I am learning to walk is that I want to be more like him.

I started a conversation with Dad this morning. I woke up very hungry when it was still dark. But I cried so Dad came in and took me out to the kitchen. As soon as I saw the fridge I had a good idea: I said “milk!” (When I say it it sounds a bit like “mook” though.) Milk, milk, milk. Dad opened the fridge and started to get me some milk. But I had a bit more to say so I pointed to my nose and said “nose”. Except it sounds a bit like “nooow”. Dad smiled and pointed to his nose too so I did it again a few times and I also said milk a few more times. Then I had some nice milk. I think Dad liked our little talk about milk and noses. But afterwards he still said it was too early and he put me back to bed.
