why it’s take too much time to give certificat of eligibility letter.. if once a reject the application what is the chance for next time…for Dependent Visa and it is posibal that after taking long time it will be rejected.

Anish, yes, it can take a long time for a decision to be made. It is possible that a second application will be successful, but unlikely.

Atif Waheed, it is extremely difficult for a non-Japanese to get a Japanese passport. Don’t even bother trying unless you have been living in Japan for years, speak, read and write Japanese fluently, etc.

    Hi,
I am an Indian citizen and my fiance is an Indian in Japan with a working visa. I will be shifting to Japan after our marriage shortly. I am an MBA, currently working with an MNC in India and will require a job in Japan once I shift. I am learning Japanese and will appear for the JLPT4 this December. What will be the best way for me to approach the working visa issue? To search for a job in Japan while I am still in India ……or to come there on a dependent visa after marriage and then get it converted to working visa?

I am living in japan on a dependent visa. My wife has a three year working visa so mine is for three years as well. After two years, she wants to move back to the U.S. Can I remain in the country without her?

Hi. I am an Indian national working in Japan. I shall be getting married soon from India and my wife shall be moving over to Japan after marriage. As a marriage certificate can only be available after the marriage, can I get the COE for her issued from Japan in the period meanwhile? Can I proceed with any formalities in absence of the marriage certificate? Thanks.

Pals, I think my view is pretty clear from the rest of the web site: it’s much easier to find a job when you’re actually in Japan. Especially for you, since your wife will have an income and you will have a visa.

David, if Immigration finds out that you are using a dependent visa when the person you are supposedly dependent on has left the country, they will not be happy with you.

Cooolster, I think you’ll need the marriage certificate before you can do anything else.

if ever the application for COE is denied/rejected, will the immigration notify the applicant? If rejected, is it possible to re-apply to once?

hi! my visa is until Nov of this year, i applied for the extension of my period of stay lastt september 1st, along with that application, i also submitted an application for a COE for my husband as my dependent. i am still waiting for the result…i am just worried that there might be conflict with it since i applied for both at the same time. do you think i should’ve extended my visa first before applying for a COE for my husband?

    Dear honey:
Don’t worry about your visa application. If your husband application and your application is different things so it’s possible that your husband application will be reject but not your. And you didn’t notify that what visa you are staying over there. It’s also depends on your visa too. So if you are staying over there as a jobholder. It’s easy to get visa for your husband. And you need any finical supporter who can help you it’s more easy to get CEO. if you have any question you can mail me. my address is anish_raj11@hotmail.com

hi anbish! thank you so much for your reply! well actually, what i am really worried about is the application for my husband. of course i wanted him to get a visa so we can be together. i have work here in japan. i have an engineer visa which was sponsored by the company. yesterday i already received a post card from the immigration regarding my extension, says there that i need to go back to get the result. so i guess the extension has been granted. now, i am waiting for the result of the application for my husband. what are the chances of him being rejected? i submitted all necessary documents and they didnt asked me a single thing when i submitted the application…thanks again!

Arnold, you can apply for a dependent visa if you are under 18. Otherwise you’re probably out of luck

Or is it ok to stay and wait? Hello,

Two years ago my wife and I lived in Japan – she had a work visa and I was her dependant. Due to a family emergency we had to leave and return to Canada rather quickly. Although we intended to return to Japan after a couple of months (while our visa were still good) we ended up staying in Canada for 2 years. Recently we returned to Japan to resume our stay but without visas. My wife went back to her old company and they sponsored her again but process took quite a bit of time. She finally has her visa and I applied for my certificate of eligibility (thinking that it was actually the visa application). In the time it’s taken to process that though my toursist visa has expired. I notified Immigration about this yesterday (Friday) and they said I needed to come to their office first thing Monday. I’m very concerned that they’ll ask me to leave and not quite sure what my options are. Can anyone offer advice here?

    thanks,
    john
