    Hi,

I’m here right now on working holiday, and want to stay longer/come back. My uncle has Permanent Residency Status here, and I was told by a few people I could become his dependant… Anyone know how that works/if that’s true? Is there an age limit? Someone told me 22, and someone told me there was no age limit on a dependant visa… Thanks!

Suman, you could try adking your local Japanese embassy.

D, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that a dependent visa is for the spouse or minor child of a resident, so in that case you could not become your uncle’s dependent. You should get your uncle to check at the Immigration Information Centre.

What kind of Japan-visa does your mom have? If she has got permanent residency you should be able to apply for a “Child of Permanent Resident”-visa.

Das suvra jyoti and Ghulam Abass, if you have a visa that allows you to work full-time, then your wife should be able to obtain a dependent visa just be applying for one. Ghulam Abass, your children are too old to qualify for dependent visas, so they will have to try to get visas on their own if they want to stay.

    Hello Bennet,
I am intending to do doctoral studies through monbukagakusho scholarship there. I understand that my wife also can come there on a dependent visa. She is a Masters degree holder. Will she be allowed to work there?
    Thank you very much,

Nicole, once you are married your husband should apply for a dependent visa. He will most likely need to produce proof of marriage, and also proof that you have a visa. I’m not sure of the exact procedure, but his local Japanese embassy will hopefully be able to give some pointers.

Anoop, a dependent visa does not allow work. It may be possible for her to apply for permission to work part-time, but she will have to wait until she has the visa and is in Japan for that.

Samim, you should be able to apply for a dependent visa if your wife has a College Student visa. I don’t know the procedure for doing this from Nepal.

I am on a COE and have Multiple entry Visa for 3 years , Now I want to bring my cousin with me on Dependent Visa as She was staying with us for the last 5 years at my Home in India. Is there is any thing by which she can continue to stay with my family at Tokyo Japan as my dependent.
