I am American. I want to live in Japan for 1-3 years. I do not have a degree of any sort. I have a lot of work experience in customer service and retail fields. Would I be able to find a company that would be able to sponsor me. I know the process is not easy, but I am willing to take on any kind of job just for the opportunity to work and in Japan. Can you please give me some advice.
    Thank you

    hello meagan….
yes definitely you can go here in japan…we have the same case …my sister also got separated but the thing is that i was able to go here in japan ..your sister must have a japanese friend who is willing to help her…as a sponsor in order for you to be sponsored…but to work i dont think so just what Benneth said that if your here in japan you must look for a company that will sponsor you…the reason for your sister for you to be here is you’re going to take care of her children and so on.. that is the best reason for so far as a tourist here in japan

    Hi,

Thank you for the extensive information on your website. I am currently looking for a job in Japan, however I find that many companies requires you to be currently in Japan already. But without a company wanting to employ me first, I cannot get a working visa. Should I just go to Japan on my tourist visa/working holiday visa, and if I can secure a job, does it mean that i can then switch to a working visa?

    Thank you very much.

Joanna, in 2002 I entered Japan as a tourist, found a job, and then applied for and received a working visa. The exact details depend on how you enter Japan (tourist visa or working holiday visa or visa waiver). You are always allowed to look for a job even without a working visa. You’re just not allowed to start work without one.
